I’ve had a couple of ‘experiences-of-a-lifetime’, but here’s one that stands out for me. When the Olympics came to Vancouver in 2010, I was so very honoured to be chosen to run across Canada with the Torch Relay. So for 3 months I traveled with the Olympic Committee and their sponsors. We ran through small towns and big towns, cheering at every torch barrier we passed. We danced, hugged and laughed along the way.

It's crazy to think that that was 5 years ago because the experience still lives in my heart like it was yesterday. Do you have a memory like that? One that feels as close as if it happened yesterday? An experience that you cherish as one of the coolest moments of your life? 

Those times in your life MAKE YOUR LIFE. Those times in your life…ARE YOUR LIFE. We live for THOSE incredible moments. But obviously we can't experience those moments every minute of everyday. So what happens to you when you are traveling through a plateau in your life, just doing the day-to-day? Do you feel bored, depressed or unsatisfied? 

Well, try not to be. Instead, when you are in a plateau, relax and look around. You are in a moment of preparation that will bring you to your next BIG experience!  Everything—whether you notice it or not—runs according to a divine alarm clock. It rings when your preparation is through. Just remember that preparation time is not wasted time. Living in Ireland for nine months on my own was the prep I needed prior to my Olympic adventure. In Ireland, I was alone, exploring my heart and building up my confidence. And when the divine alarm rang I had the skills I needed to seize hold of that amazing adventure. 

I believe once-in-a-lifetime experiences can and should happen more than once in a lifetime. And they can, if we respect the plateaus in our lives as preparation times.
